Got some preemptive celebratory items today. Dom is from the year I graduated high school, Moet is from the year I graduated Georgia Tech. In case you were wondering , I like C hampagne.

If you like champagne so much, why don't you drink it?

I'm partial to a bottle of Veuve, but I prefer Lanson.

Get it man! You will never have more consolidated control over the ability to make someone you love happy than when you’ve got the ring in your pocket. Have fun!

I had it twice in college. The first time was the Saturday after I got a job offer from Schlumberger, which I took. The second was the Friday I finished school. The first time was out of the bottle, the second time was in a solo cup, mainly because that’s all I had.

It’s not today, just soon. She told me as long as I wasn’t in pajamas and there was no hairless cat involved, it’d be a yes.

I got a bottle of dom to share with my sister back for xmas in 2014, it was delicious. My mom isn’t a huge fan of champagne, but she does like dom.

You made me realize that i haven’t drank any since march !
And just in case you never tried, try to drink your older C hampagnes in more classic wine glasses types (like a Bordeaux or Burgundy ) and fill them less to have more of the aromas expressing on the nose (and served not too cold, obviously) .

I’ve heard that before, but I’ve never tried it.

The Dom is well overpriced (but it’s a good product), you pay for the brand and the LVMH shareholders ; there are many independent or smaller houses that are making very good products .
C hampagne is like any other wine, the glass, the temperature and what you are eating with it is very important.
Not every Champagnes are “festive” ones (or for the des ert ) that are supposed to be served ice cold and drank on flutes (i hate those), some are good pairing with food and can be used similar to even a red wine in some cases.
I personally like older Champagnes that are rounded and not served too cold, a good one can be drank at room temperature and won’t be excessively sour or bitter, even if they are not sweet .

I’ve friends that have drank champagne* from a regular wine glass and not liked it and then the same champagne f rom champagne flutes and liked it.
*not older champagne.
So many times I’ve explained different drinks and the most suitable glasses for them. But invariably they just use what’s immediately to hand which is fair as they like it and it’s up to them.

Yes, if it’s “festive” Champaign that is young and sour and ultra-dry (made to be drank ice cold with some very-sweet desert ), it will also attack the nose more violently on a larger glass while than on a flute as you have most of your nose outside of it (on a flute) :)
And i haven’t talked about the fermentation, a malolactic fermentation will make it rounder but will lose some of the aromas and complexity while adding “greasy” and brioche aromas.
And some part of the wine can be partially aged in casks which can also add different aromas and style.
And there are two totally different types of rosé Champagne (saignée and assemblage).

All in all, i like to often buy different bottles from different houses to try different things, there are sometimes very nice surprises.

I like to try new things but quite often I stick with what I like.
I do get a slight sense of pride when I go out with a few lady friends and the waiter asks what wines we’ll be having and they always look at me and say, ‘he’s the wine orderer’, as apparently I always pick the nicest wines.
I’m not a connoisseur by any means at all, just know what I like and can usually know within a couple of sittings what people in my company like.
I've had some nice surprises, not just with champagne, but also some where I've just thought, 'nope', and left the glass/bottle unfinished.

It’s my understanding that the cat’s pajamas are quite nice.

In that case everything should go well.

Well they’re similar in quality to the joint between the upper and lower leg of the apis mellifera.
